Here we go … one more time?
*NSYNC has reportedly gotten back together to create new music for the latest installment of the “Trolls” film franchise.
Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass are set to release a new song for the upcoming movie “Trolls Band Together,” a source told “Entertainment Tonight” Friday.
The insider also claimed that all five members of the iconic boy band are “expected to have surprise roles” in the animated musical comedy, due out in theaters Nov. 17.
A trailer for “Trolls Band Together” appears to tease the rumored reunion, with one character Floyd, played by Troye Sivan, telling Timberlake’s character, Branch, “We’re out of sync” in the clip.
“We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: to the back streets,” he adds, seemingly also referencing groups Boyz II Men and Backstreet Boys.
Pvnew has reached out to reps for Timberlake, Chasez, Fatone, Kirkpatrick and Bass for confirmation but did not immediately hear back.
Universal Studios and DreamWorks Animation, the respective distributor and production company for the movie, also did not immediately return requests for comment.
This would be the first time in more than two decades that *NSYNC has put out a musical project. Their last single, “Girlfriend,” off of their fourth and final studio album, “Celebrity,” was released in 2002.
Timberlake went on to have a successful solo career with chart-topping albums and hits, including “Cry Me a River” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” off of the first “Trolls” movie’s soundtrack.
Since *NSYNC parted ways, however, the “Bye, Bye, Bye” singers have made a few public appearances together, much to the amusement of their devoted fandom.
In August 2013, they performed with Timberlake, now 42, at the MTV VMAs in Brooklyn, NY.
Five years later, the pop group reunited in Los Angeles to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
*NSYNC, minus Timberlake, then surprised fans at Coachella in 2019 for a rendition of their hit “Tearin’ Up My Heart” alongside Ariana Grande, who stepped in for the “Sexyback” singer.
Over the years, many have speculated that perhaps Timberlake’s success is part of the reason *NSYNC has not reunited sooner, but Kirkpatrick, 51, told Pvnew exclusively in October 2022 that another member was hesitant to get back into the spotlight.
The “Celebrity Big Brother” alum said of Chasez, 47, at the time, “I don’t know if there was a bad taste in his mouth from his first record or what, but I know that there’s a bad taste in his mouth from something, and he just won’t put [new music] out no matter what.”
If the rumblings about “Trolls Band Together” are true, Chasez’s cold feet may have finally gone away.
