Talk about letting it “Burn.”
Keke Palmer clapped back at her ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson as she stars in Usher’s latest music video, with the “Nope” star’s appearance following the outfit-shaming controversy sparked by her appearance at the singer’s Vegas residency.
In the symbolism-heavy video for the new song, titled “Boyfriend,” which was released Wednesday, Palmer, 29, gets ready with her girlfriends in a robe, sports bra and boxers before slipping into a black bodysuit and sweatpants — in a reference to the sultry bustier bodysuit and sheer dress she wore in July.
Lyrics to the song, which seem to be a clear tongue-in-cheek dig at Jackson, include: “Somebody said your boyfriend’s lookin’ for me / Well that’s cool, that’s cool / Well he should know I’m pretty easy to find / Just look for me wherever he sees you.”
And, at the end of the video, she says to her “boyfriend” on the phone that she missed the fictional concert because, “I was so tired. I am a mother, after all,” with a knowing wink to the camera, referencing her now-ex’s complaints.
The revealing looks likely wouldn’t have received the stamp of approval from Jackson, who tweeted, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom,” on his now-deleted Twitter account alongside a viral video of his then-girlfriend being serenaded by Usher.
The personal trainer and actor received plenty of backlash for his outfit-shaming tweet and eventually deleted his social media accounts after his girlfriend’s fans flooded the comments sections in her defense, though not before he doubled down on his stance, proclaiming that he had “morals” and “standards” for the mother of his child.
The “Hustlers” actress and mom of one — who welcomed her son, Leodis Andrelton Jackson, with Jackson in Feb. 2023 after 2 years of dating — went on to share photos of the outfit, writing, “I wish I had taken more pictures but we were running late.”
Palmer and Jackson broke up after two years of dating in the wake of his controversial remarks, as People reported Wednesday.
“He’s moved on,” an insider told the magazine.
Perhaps Jackson may be more approving of Keke’s other outfit in the dream sequence video, which saw the star and the “Confessions” crooner sport the same brown leather jacket and white T-shirt as they sing and dance in a casino.
It seems like Keke is having the final word.
