“The Devil Wears Prada” cast members Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt reunited at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards to present best actor in a comedy series. Blunt was also a nominee at the award ceremony for supporting actress thanks to her role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.”

Streep took to the stage first alone and told the crowd that she had forgotten her glasses and the envelope with this year’s winner listed. Hathaway and Blunt then appeared to hand Streep her missing items, a nod to their roles as assistants to Miranda Priestly (Streep) in “The Devil Wears Prada.”

“Meryl and Miranda Priestly are sort of like twins,” Blunt said, to which Streep fiercely disagreed.

“No no. That wasn’t a question,” Hathaway told Streep in a nod to one of Miranda’s most icy lines of dialogue in the film.

Blunt also quoted Miranda by telling Streep: “By all means move at a glacial pace.”

While the SAG Awards marked the first major public reunion for Hathaway, Streep and Blunt in some time, Hathaway and Blunt had their own “Devil Wears Prada” reunion last year for PvNew’s “Actors on Actors” series.

“I was so green coming into that situation,” Blunt told Hathaway during the discussion. “And you were like the warmest embrace. Even though you were a colossal movie star at that time, you treated me like a complete equal. You are one of the people I’ve known longest. We’ve known each other for 18 years.”

Blunt continued, “We just had a joy bomb of a time on that movie. I don’t know if any of us knew it was going to become what it did. It’s quoted to me every week. It will be the movie that changed my life.”

Hathaway said in 2022 that she wasn’t sold on any ideas of a “Devil Wears Prada” sequel. She said on “The View” that a sequel would be “tempting” to make but also probably not possible considering just how much print media has changed since the original film opened in 2006.

“I don’t know if there can be,” Hathaway said. “I just think that movie was in a different era. Now, everything has gone so digital and that movie centered around the concept of producing a physical thing. It’s just very different now.”

Hathaway added, “It is tempting to think about Andy (Hathaway) and Emily (Emily Blunt) needing to get Miranda (Meryl Streep) her coffee and she’s somewhere in Europe and then along the way they pick up Stanley Tucci in Italy, who’s at a restaurant. It’s tempting, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. They could relaunch it, find some new people and do it.”

In the meantime, “The Devil Wears Prada” is relaunching on the stage as a musical. Vanessa Williamswill take on Streep’s role of Miranda Priestly in the LondonWest Endproduction, which will feature an original score by Elton John(“Tammy Faye,” “Billy Elliot: The Musical,” “The Lion King”), direction and choreography by three-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (“Kinky Boots,” “Legally Blonde,” “Pretty Woman,” “Hairspray”), lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub (“Suffs”) and book by Kate Wetherhead (“Ever After,” “Submissions Only”).
