The shocking death of Sandra Bullock’s boyfriend Bryan Randall has prompted a “significant” influx in donations to the ALS Association.
“We are grateful for the amazing outpouring of support in honor of Bryan,” Brian Frederick, the senior vice president of strategic communications at the nonprofit organization, told Pvnew in a statement Thursday.
“We have seen a significant lift in donations, which will help our urgent work to make ALS a livable disease through local care, national advocacy, and global ALS research,” he added.
“We send our love and condolences to Sandra and Bryan’s family.”
Frederick told us that donations “are up over 500% from this time last year,” adding, “We currently have over $38 million committed to ALS research, including several investments and projects at MGH.”
On Monday, Randall’s family announced that he had “passed away peacefully” at age 57 on Aug. 5 after a “private” three-year battle with ALS.
“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,” his family said.
In lieu of flowers, the photographer’s relatives asked for donations to be made to the ALS Association and the Massachusetts General Hospital.
The “Miss Congeniality” star, 59, was praised by her sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, as an “amazing” caregiver who “assembled” a band of nurses to care for Randall in her home during his final years.
As the dad of one’s illness began progressing, Bullock put her Hollywood career on pause to care for him, sources exclusively told Pvnew Tuesday.
A day after his death was announced, a video of the former model and Bullock sharing an intimate dance in the Bahamas in December 2017 surfaced online.
In the clip, the “Lost City” actress and Randall held each other as they slowly danced in front of several close friends and family.
A source told the Daily Mail that the couple’s special dance came after they allegedly exchanged non-legal vows.
Bullock, who adopted Louis and Laila, and Randall met in January 2015 when he photographed her son’s birthday party.
In October of that year, they made their red carpet debut at the premiere of the Oscar winner’s film “Our Brand Is Crisis.”
Randall, who is dad to daughter Skylar, 29, from a previous relationship, helped raise the actress’ kids.
