Melania Trump honored her late mother, Amalija Knavs, with an emotional eulogy at her funeral.
“My mother, the epitome of elegance and grace, exemplified the essence of a true woman,” the former first lady said at The Church of Bethesda-By-The-Sea in Palm Beach, Fla., Thursday, per Fox News.
“Her love for her husband, Viktor, my father; Ines, my sister; and me was boundless. Her nurturing spirit had no limits, creating a legacy that will last for generations.”
The former model remembered Knavs as a tender grandmother, who showered her and Donald Trump’s son, Barron, “with affection, illuminating his world with love, tender care, and unwavering devotion.”
“She embodied the best mother, wife, grandmother, mother-in-law, a true beacon of love and luxury in our lives,” she continued.
Melania, 53, recalled hearing her mom’s tales of her days in the fashion industry as she traveled to Paris and throughout Europe, teaching her the value of “couture” and falling in love with fashion herself.
“She was a creator of dreams, and I am forever grateful for the beauty she brought into my life,” she added.
“From managing the household to pursuing her own ambition in fashion, she never ceased to amaze with her resilience and determination.”
Melania also highlighted her mother — who was born in Slovenian — for embracing her “privilege” of becoming a U.S. citizen alongside her father, Viktor Knavs, in 2018 when Donald, 77, was president.
“She vowed to contribute to make a difference in the world filled with uncertainty,” she continued, adding that Amalija was her and Donald’s biggest supporter when he was in office from 2017 to 2021.
“She [had an] exquisite sense of pride as my husband became the President of the United States and as I embarked on a grand odyssey, traveling the corners of the globe as the first lady.”
“My father, my sister, Barron, Donald and I will forever remember the echoes of our laughter that we share with our beloved Babi over family dinners and travels. Her conversations flowed effortlessly, adorned with grace and charm. No topic was off limits,” she continued.
Melania furthered that Amalija was more than just a mom but also a “friend” and “confident,” who was a “ray of light in the darkest of days.”
“In her presence, the world seemed to shimmer with radiant joy,” she continued. “She celebrated our successes and provided unwavering support during chaotic times. Our bond was unbreakable.”
The former fashion designer stayed composed while concluding her tribute, adding that her mom was “an irreplaceable treasure.”
“And for that, I am entirely grateful. Rest in peace, my beloved mommy,” she finished.
She was joined at the Episcopal church by Donald and their 17-year-old son, Barron.
The former president’s daughters from his previous marriage with Ivana Trump — Ivanka Trump and Tiffany Trump — also paid their respects at the services.
Melania announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Jan. 9, that Amalija had passed away at the age of 78 after batting an undisclosed illness.
The family matriarch fell “very ill” around Christmas time, which led Melania to be absent from the Trump family photo.
At the time, Donald sent his mother-in-law well wishes as he hosted a New Year’s Eve gathering at his Palm Beach estate, where Amalija and her husband were living.
