“Hacks” is back. Max has released the first teaser for the Emmy-winning comedy series’ upcoming third season, along with an announcement that the first two episodes will debut on the streamer on May 2.
Following the two-episode premiere, Max will debut two more episodes of “Hacks” weekly before debuting a single-episode season finale on May 30.
Set to Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing,” the new footage sees Deborah Vance and her head writer Ava Daniels reuniting in Las Vegas, as the two face diverging pathways in the entertainment industry.
Along with Smart and Einbinder, “Hacks” Season 3 also sees the return of regulars Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo and Lorenza Izzo. Guest stars for the upcoming season include Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Bucatinsky, George Wallace and Tony Goldwyn.
“Hacks” has proved a critical smash since first premiering on Max (né HBO Max) in May 2021. The second season bowed in May 2022, with a longer interim following before this third season.
Smart has twice won the Emmy for best lead actress in a comedy series, once for each contending season. The show has also taken home prizes for outstanding directing and outstanding writing for its first season. It has accrued nominations in outstanding comedy series, outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for Einbinder and outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for Clemons-Hopkins.
“Hacks” comes from Universal Television. The show is created and showrun by Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jet Statsky. Executive producers include Downs and Aniello for Paulilu, Statsky for First Thought Productions, Michael Schur for Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment and Morgan Sackett.
