Sydney Sweeney admits she struggled with rumors claiming she was dating her “Anyone But You” co-star Glen Powell – despite still being engaged to Jonathan Davino.
“Sometimes I feel beat up by it,” Sweeney, 25, confessed to PvNew in an interview published Wednesday.
“It’s hard to sit back and watch, and not be able to stand up for yourself.”
Fortunately, the “Euphoria” actress hasn’t let the rumor mill get to her, telling the outlet she’s remained close friends with Powell, 34, amid all the drama.
“Glen and I don’t really care,” she shared. “We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”
Sweeney added that she is looking forward to doing the movie’s press tour with Powell.
“We talk all the time, like, ‘That’s really funny,’” she added of how they reacted to all the various headlines surrounding their tight-knit bond.
The rom-com’s director, Will Gluck, agreed that Sweeney was able to navigate the dating speculation like a true professional.
“Sydney is brilliant at a lot of things, including how to deal with social media,” Gluck told PvNew. “She didn’t emotionally internalize it. It was crazy, but after a while it became normal.”
As previously reported, Sweeney and Powell first sparked romance rumors in March when they exhibited serious chemistry on set while filming in Australia, despite both being in serious relationships with other people at the time.
Fan theories were further fueled when Powell’s then-girlfriend unfollowed both the actor and Sweeney on Instagram in April before posting cryptically, “Know your worth & onto the next.”
But a source told Pvnew that Powell and Paris broke up amicably in April after three years of dating.
While Sweeney has continued to hang out with Powell publicly, she has also been seen out and about with her fiancé. She and Davino have been engaged since at least March 2022.
“The White Lotus” star and Davino enjoyed a loved-up date night out in New York City in May.
That same month, she was seen wearing her engagement ring for the first time in nearly a year as she and Davino stepped out in Cannes, France.
“Anyone But You” will hit theaters Dec. 15.
