Kate Middleton underwent a “planned abdominal surgery” Tuesday, Kensington Palace announced.
“The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” read a statement on Instagram Wednesday, adding that the Princess of Wales “is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
Middleton, 42, expressed her desire to “maintain as much normality for her children as possible” and beyond the announcement have her personal information remain private.
She and Prince William share three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
In light of her request for privacy, the palace said it will share only “significant” updates from here on out.
“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements,” the statement concluded.
“She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
Kensington Palace did not give any insight into what the surgery was treating, but Pvnew is told the ailment is not cancerous.
We also hear that the Prince of Wales, 41, will be balancing being with his kids with taking care of his wife, and in doing so will postpone a number of his own engagements while Middleton remains in the hospital and for the immediate period following her discharge.
