They’re letting bygones be bygones.
Ariana DeBose seemingly forgave Bella Ramsey at the Emmys 2024 after the “Last of Us” actor made a joke at the Broadway star’s expense during the Critics Choice Awards Sunday.
In a photo shared on social media, DeBose, 32, and Ramsey, 20, hugged it out at the awards show inside the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday night.
The embrace came one day after Ramsey — who uses the pronouns they/them — made a quip about DeBose’s career as an actor and singer.
While presenting the award for Best Song, the “Worst Witch” alum listed off the “famous voices” in the category.
She reads he names of Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz and Dua Lipa, before joking, “And there are the actors who also think that they’re singers: Jack Black, Ariana DeBose, Ryan Gosling.”
The camera then panned to the “Wish” voice actor, who looked less than amused at the remark, before moving to a laughing Gosling, 43, who ended up taking home the award for his “Barbie” track, “I’m Just Ken.”
Following the ceremony, DeBose took to Instagram to share her true feelings about Ramsey’s joke.
“No I didn’t find it funny. Lol,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.
The “West Side Story” star’s fans came to her defense online, slamming the quip for being disrespectful to DeBose’s award-winning career.
“If you think Ariana DeBose is an ‘actor who thinks she’s a singer,’ you are so wrong it’s embarrassing,” said one user tweeted.
“Ariana DeBose, Oscar award winning, Tony nominated, OG cast member of Hamilton on BROADWAY…. ‘THINKS she’s a singer’?!? Who wrote this bit?! I want names #CriticsChoiceAwards,” added another.
“imagine saying that about ariana WHO WAS ON BROADWAY!!! AND WON MULTIPLE AWARDS WITH HER COMPANY,” wrote another person.
DeBose also got support from Jamie Lee Curtis, who hailed the singer as a “queen” in an Instagram post Monday.
“Are you f–king kidding me!” the “Halloween” actress, 65, wrote. “Ariana DeBose is a queen. #backthef–koff #shutthef–kup.”
