Brooke Shields brought her new rescue puppy, Tuzi, as a plus-one to the Hope for Depression Research Foundation’s annual 5K race in Southampton on Sunday.
“Brooke was with her new puppy and her daughter Grier,” a source tells Pvnew exclusively, “and Brooke carried her puppy across the finish line” when the pooch got too pooped to finish the race.
Grier, 17, served as the event’s “teen grand marshal,” we hear.
Brooke was overheard telling pals, “Our new puppy’s name is Tuzi, and she has a twisted tail. … We picked her because no one else wanted her.”
The former Calvin Klein model, 58, joked, “We have so many twisted tales in our family.”
Grier, Shields’ youngest daughter, added to those kvelling over the pup at the race, “Tuzi is an American Staffordshire Terrier. … It’s like a pit bull.”
More than 600 people ran or walked in the race “including teens and their parents, babies in carriages and lots of dogs,” a participant tells us. “The race raised a record $250,000 and still counting.”
Shields, who has previously been honored by the organization, debuted images of Tuzi on Instagram last month.
“World, meet Tuzi,” she wrote in the caption. “Tuzi, meet world. You know we couldn’t go long without puppy love in our house.”
The “Pretty Baby” star revealed earlier this year that another one of her dogs, Pepper, had died.
