Martin Short is putting the brakes on speculation that he is dating Meryl Streep.
Rumors of a romance between the “only Murders in the Building” co-stars started running wild after they looked cozy while sitting together at the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday — but a rep for Short insists there is nothing romantic going on between them.
Although the actors grew close while playing love interests on the hit Hulu show, the spokesperson told People Tuesday that they “are just very good friends, nothing more.”
During the awards show, Streep, 74, and Short, 73, were photographed looking quite comfortable with each other, leading viewers to speculate on social media that their friendship had turned romantic.
“Sitting with the knowledge that Meryl Streep and Martin Short might be in love but I have no proof,” one person tweeted.
“Meryl Streep & Martin Short allegedly dating is now my Roman Empire,” another joked.
“Are Meryl Streep and Martin Short dating… because if that’s true… that’s like Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner multiplied by Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft,” a third chimed in.
