Terry Dubrow warns of the ‘surprising’ dangers of ‘Ozempic shaming’ as more celebs admit to usage

Dr. Terry Dubrow is urging the public to be more careful about “shaming” those who are using Ozempic.

As more celebrities and stars from “The Real Housewives” franchise are fessing up to taking the drug for weight loss, the plastic surgeon told us it’s “putting people in the hospital.”

“That’s not being reported very much, and that’s because of this phenomenon called Ozempic shaming. We have to stop the Ozempic shaming,” he said on a recent episode of Pvnew’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast.

Dubrow, 64, noted that “Ozempic shaming” has resulted in some people not informing “their doctors that they’re on it,” which can be extremely detrimental to their health.

“It can have a lot of side effects if you’re undergoing elective surgery,” he explained, adding that people “need to open up the dialogue” with the drug.

“Think of it as Botox 10 years ago when no one would admit to it. Now everybody admits to Botox,” Dubrow argued.

“If somebody’s on Ozempic because they wanna lose weight, [we should] celebrate that we have a breakthrough for obesity.”

The “Botched” star emphasized that regardless of being a “huge fan” of the “true miracle breakthrough” drug, people still need to “be careful” and “do it under doctor supervision.”

Dr. Paul Nassif also warned that they’ve seen more people coming in for facelifts as a result of “Ozempic face” – the loss of “elasticity” in the skin from the vanished fat.

“Don’t go crazy, have the surgery and gain all the weight back,” Nassif, 61, said.

Dubrow and Nassif’s comments come amid several celebrities, many from the Bravo universe, admitting to using the drug over the last few months.

As previously reported, “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Emily Simpson – who is the co-star of Dubrow’s wife, Heather – owned up to using it to “jumpstart” her diet last December after having a “nervous breakdown” about her weight gain.

Simpson has since clapped back at haters who aren’t giving her any “credit” for her body transformation – even though she’s discussed her diet and vigorous fitness routine.

“The thing that bothers me the most is that when people comment on the way that I look, they constantly say, ‘Ozempic, Ozempic,’” she told Us Weekly last week.

“Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Dolores Catania has also candidly discussed using a version of the drug to lose weight, but has emphasized that she did so for medical reasons.

“I’m going through menopause, I have a thyroid issue, I have inflammation and weight is hard to take off,” she told Pvnew in April.

Meanwhile, “Shahs of Sunset” star Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi admitted she ”cut back” on injecting herself with the drug after she weighed in at 110 pounds in June, while Tamra Judge has been slamming people for taking “shortcuts” in their fitness journeys.

“Botched” Season 8 premieres Aug. 3 at 10 p.m. ET on E!
