Angus Cloud was struggling to cope with losing his father in the days leading up to his own death.
Cloud’s family announced the 25-year-old’s tragic death Monday, revealing that his dad, Conor Hickey, had died just two months before the “Euphoria” star.
“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” they said in a statement to TMZ. “As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.
“Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss,” they continued. “The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend.”
“Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”
Despite the tragedy, the family hopes people will remember Cloud for “his humor, laughter and love for everyone.”
While his cause of death is still unknown, the family confirmed that he died at their home in Oakland, Calif.
The actor posted a photo of his late father wearing an all-red tracksuit to his Instagram on July 14.
While it’s unclear what the original caption read, Cloud had recently changed it to “miss u breh.”
Hickey died on May 19 after a “brief fight with cancer,” according to Angus’ mother, Lisa Cloud.
Lisa wrote on Facebook at the time that her husband enjoyed “a great visit with all the kids who flew in to see him at hospital” before losing his battle with the disease.
Lisa suffered another devastating loss Monday when Angus was pronounced dead after she called 911 at 11:30 a.m. to report a “possible overdose.”
A source later told Pvnew that Angus had been batting suicidal thoughts after coming back to California following his father’s burial in Ireland.
Angus rose to fame while playing fan-favorite character Fezco on the Emmy-winning HBO series, which was supposed to start filming its third season next year.
“We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud,” HBO said in a statement to PvNew. “He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
Dozens of other celebrities have also taken to social media to express their sadness over the actor’s sudden death.
