It’s a girl!
Pregnant Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian revealed they are expecting another baby girl in a YouTube video on Monday.
The video kicked off with Williams, Ohanian and their 5-year-old daughter, Olympia, getting ready for the joint baby shower and gender reveal with the tennis player commenting that she was “team pink.”
After saying she was “team pink,” the tennis player added, “I’m a little nervous because I don’t have any contingency plan if it turns out to be a boy.”
For the big reveal, the fashion icon rocked a white T-shirt with a pink and white skirt that emphasized her growing bump. Ohanian, on the other hand, rocked an X-Men graphic tee and black shorts as if hinting he was hoping for a boy.
The party kicked off with guests walking under a rainbow-colored balloon arch with a sign that read, “Our Next Great Adventure.” Inside, there was plenty of food, dancing, music and a dunk tank where Ohanian was the target.
After sunset, the couple changed into more casual outfits as Williams prepared to cut into the cake that would reveal the gender of their second child.
However, Ohanian had played a prank and instead ordered a yellow cake to throw his wife off.
“I’m doing this because I want to troll her and Olympia into thinking that this is the reveal of Jelly Bean,” he told the camera.
“She will cut into this cake and probably be disappointed and hopefully appreciate my troll. But, we’ll see. I don’t know if she’s gonna be a professional about it. She might see this cake come out, roll her eyes, and say, ‘This guy had one job and he gave me a goddamn cake gender reveal.’ But we’ll see. there’s a reveal after the reveal.”
Like he had predicted, once Williams cut into the cake and she saw it was yellow inside, she smushed into her husband’s face. However, he then made it up by having Williams and their guests look up to the sky where drones spelled out the word “girl” in pink.
Excitedly, the family of three cheered.
The athlete, 41, teased the announcement via Instagram in July, asking her followers to “drop [their] guesses.”
While some of Williams’ followers commented that they are simply “team healthy baby,” others shared their predictions.
“I have said it!! It’s a Boy!!! Mixed Doubles team hahaha,” one social media user wrote, referencing their oldest daughter.
“Girl for sure,” another added. “Maybe the pink skirt gave it away lol.”
Williams announced her pregnancy news in May, debuting her baby bump in a Gucci dress at the Met Gala.
“I’m feeling good,” the Olympian told Vogue at the time. “I can breathe. I can stop hiding.”
Later that same month, Williams shared adorable YouTube footage of “excited” Olympia running around their living room after finding out her big sister status.
The little one was born in September 2017, two months before Williams and the Reddit co-founder tied the knot in New Orleans.
