Tom Brady definitely has a type.
The former NFL quarterback has seemingly moved on from his supermodel ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, with fellow catwalker Irina Shayk — and while his latest flame might share the same profession as his ex, the similarities don’t stop there.
Both women have experienced their fair share of fashion-industry success, and it seems Bündchen’s career has become a blueprint of sorts for modeling superstardom.
The Brazilian beauty, 43 — who married Brady, 45, in 2009 and shares two children with him — was discovered at age 14 in a Brazilian shopping mall and catapulted to first-name-only fame as one of the world’s most iconic models.
While she hasn’t graced a runway since 2016, Bündchen has returned to campaign and editorial modeling in a major way since her divorce from Brady in 2022.
Enter Shayk, 37.
The Russian supermodel comes from humble beginnings in a small coal mining town, but she quickly rose up the modeling ranks after being discovered at age 20 — and now it seems like her relationship with Brady is heating up, too.
While reports that Shayk was “throwing herself” at the former New Englands Patriot star during billionaire art dealer Joe Nahmad’s June wedding were dismissed as “totally fictional” by her manager at the time, the two apparently couldn’t stay away from each other.
The Sports Illustrated model was spotted with Brady on Friday as they headed to his house for a sleepover, with the pair driving back to the Hotel Bel-Air together on Saturday morning in photos obtained by Pvnew exclusively.
And while they might share a soft spot for quarterbacks, Shayk and Bündchen also have made some of the same career moves.
Whether by walking the same runways or posing for the most in-demand designers, both women turned more heads than just Brady’s. Below, a dive into some of their career comparisons.
Vamping it up for Victoria’s Secret
When you think of a Victoria’s Secret Angel, Bündchen’s name almost certainly comes to mind. The supermodel first walked for the brand’s annual fashion show in 1999, going on to strut her stuff for VS until 2006.
While she was never made an Angel, Shayk has also walked the lingerie retailer’s catwalk. She made her first and only appearance in the brand’s 2016 fashion show, walking the runway while six months pregnant with her first child with then-boyfriend Bradley Cooper. The couple went on to welcome a daughter, Lea De Seine, in 2017 before splitting in 2019.
Voguing for Versace
When it comes to print ads, Shayk and Bündchen have posed for the world’s top designers, each scoring several campaigns for Versace over the years.
While it was far from her first ad for the Italian luxury label, Brady’s ex-wife sported a very Queen Elizabeth-esque silk headscarf for Versace’s spring/summer 2018 campaign, clad in a matching animal-print dress and clutching a black top-handled bag with gold studs.
Shayk starred in the same 2018 campaign alongside Shayk, and a year later appeared in the spring/summer 2019 ads while wearing a slinky black slip dress and clutching a black quilted purse with similar gilded hardware.
Stripping down for Givenchy
They’re sure not shy! Both Bündchen and Shayk ditched their shirts to star in the same sexy Givenchy Jeans campaign in 2016.
For the striking black-and-white shots, each bombshell posed on the shoulders of a hunky male model wearing nothing but skintight denim.
Strutting at São Paulo Fashion Week
As one of the biggest names in Brazil, it’s perhaps no surprise that Bündchen was a fixture at São Paulo Fashion Week for years. She walked her first show at the event in 2000, and even walked her last (pre-Rio Olympics) runway for Colcci in 2015.
While the two women have never been cast in the same show, Shayk popped up at the Triton show during São Paulo Fashion Week in 2014.
Modeling for Missoni
Another designer for which the duo have both posed is Missoni, with Bündchen and Shayk each starring in campaigns wearing the label’s signature striped knitwear.
While Shayk showed off patchwork palazzo pants and a very 1970s tunic for Missoni’s spring/summer 2017 ads, Bündchen was selected as the face of the Italian house’s celestial-themed spring/summer 2019 campaign.
