Goodbye Morning America.
Amy Robach says she has no interest in ever returning to morning television shows after she was fired from “GMA3” for her controversial relationship with co-anchor T.J. Holmes.
“I learned that I never want to go back to the grind of morning television,” she said on Tuesday’s episode of her and Holmes’ “Amy and T.J. Podcast.”
Robach explained that she does “not miss the job,” but she does “miss the people” she used to work with.
“Agree with you there,” Holmes chimed in.
Robach worked as a news broadcaster since 1995 and anchored at CNBC and NBC’s “Weekend Today” show before moving networks to ABC in 2012.
Robach, 50, worked in various roles –– including as “GMA3” co-anchor –– for a decade before she was fired in January 2023.
Meanwhile, Holmes, 46, has also worked on news shows most of his life and has held anchoring positions at CNN, BET and eventually landed the gig as a “GMA3” co-anchor in 2020.
Robach and Holmes were temporarily taken off the air in December 2022 after their romantic relationship was revealed. By January, the two had officially been cut from the daytime talk show.
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News,” the company wrote in an email to staff at the time.
Robach and Holmes have since returned to working, but at a more leisurely pace with their new podcast that they launched in December 2023 –– nearly a year after their relationship made headlines.
The couple have used their platform to discuss their side of the story and have denied having an affair, despite the two of them each being legally married to different people at the beginning of their relationship.
“To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case,” Holmes claimed on the first episode. “We both at that point were in divorce proceedings.”
Robach finalized her divorce from Andrew Shue in March 2023, and Holmes filed for divorce from Marilee Fiebig in December 2022. Holmes and Fiebig eventually settled their divorce in October 2023.
