Claudia Schiffer’s still got it.

The legendary supermodel reflected on some of her cherished moments with the late Karl Lagerfeld, who will be honored at the upcoming 2023 Met Gala, in a first-person piece for The Guardian.

Schiffer, 52, recalled one very special pair of jeans, which she wore on the Chanel runway in 1993 that were a revelation at the time — and still fit the star.

“While denim is commonplace in high-end fashion today, back then it was so novel and fresh; Karl Lagerfeld turned what was a basic item of clothing into a luxury garment using beautiful fabric, braiding and the signature interlocking ‘CC’ buttons,” Schiffer wrote.

She added, “I’ve worn these jeans on many occasions – they never go out of style and have stood the test of time because of the classic cut (high waist, straight leg), as well as the intense shade of French blue and unique embroidered detailing.”

While the pants have “gently faded” over time, Schiffer says they “have not required any repairs” in the nearly 30 years since she first wore them down the runway.

“They are a part of my life as much as any treasured piece of jewellery or favourite artwork. And, to be honest, I like the fact that they still fit me!” she said.

The star now designs her own denim pieces with frame, opening up to Pvnew Style in 2020 about the important role jeans play in her life — including her big break in 1989, when she starred in Guess Jeans’ black-and-white campaign — as well as her close relationship with Lagerfeld.

When the iconic designer died in 2019 after a struggle with pancreatic cancer, Schiffer mourned Lagerfeld on social media.

“Karl was my magic dust, he transformed me from a shy German girl into a supermodel,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, calling him “irreplaceable” and “the only person who could make black and white colorful.”

Perhaps the blond bombshell will slip back into her beloved jeans for the Met Gala next month.
