Morgan Wallen invited a University of Idaho murder victim’s family to see his Southern California concert for free — and participate in a meet-and-greet.
The mother of the late Ethan Chapin shared on Instagram Saturday that the country music star had reached out after hearing that her son, who was one of four college students killed in November 2022, was a huge fan.
“Last night, we met Morgan Wallen! He kindly gifted our family and friends tickets to his show in San Diego. Morgan’s mom, Lesli, even flew in!” Stacy Chapin wrote, adding that she and Ethan had bonded over the song “I Thought You Should Know,” which Wallen wrote for his mom.
“It was an incredibly bittersweet full-circle moment.”
Although Stacy felt the tickets and meetup were “enough,” she further revealed that the “Wasted on You” crooner handed her a donation check for Ethan’s Smile Foundation, a nonprofit honoring her son through education scholarships for students in his native Skagit Valley, Wash.
“It was one of the kindest gestures in my life,” she continued. “I still cannot believe it happened, and it isn’t easy to recognize it all came at a massive cost to our family.”
