Bethenny Frankel is being roasted online for buying a “ridiculous” $20,000 Chanel bag shaped like a birdcage.
The “Real Housewives of New York” alum proudly showed off the designer handbag to her Instagram followers on Sunday.
“This is so special that I think it requires my first real unboxing, for the first time ever,” the Skinnygirl founder said while rocking zebra-patterned pajamas and wet hair.
As she pulled out the bag, which is shaped like a gold birdcage, Frankel, 52, repeatedly described the luxury item as “special.”
Fans, however, were quick to blast the pricey purchase.
“Wow, that’s absolutely horrific,” one critic commented, while another agreed, “Ridiculous. What is happening in this world!”
“ok, as much as I love Chanel, this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. come on, now, even for Chanel, this is stupid,” a third wrote.
Another added, “Bethanny [sic], I love you. You make me laugh and I agree with 99% of what you say. This however, I cannot get behind. But you be you and keep entertaining us.”
Others pointed out the reality star’s apparent hypocrisy in regard to the trend of unboxing expensive items on social media.
“If I remember correctly on your podcast you went on a lengthy rant regarding bloggers unboxing and flaunting high priced luxury items and how those bloggers were sending the wrong messages and were basically the downfall of our society,” noted one fan.
“Now, personally, I don’t mind it, it’s not real world for most but it’s fun to watch. Point is, pick a lane Bethany [sic] and practice what you preach.”
Another heartily disagreed with Frankel describing the handbag as “special.”
“This is a bag? This is idiotic. I don’t see anything special about this even as a decoration. Pretty sure you can get the same exact one made in China for super cheap,” the user wrote.
The former reality star shared that her fiancé, Paul Bernon — who proposed in 2021 — “likes things that are very unique and special and you’re not going to see everywhere.”
“He likes collectible items so he always asks me, ‘Is this a major bag alert?'”
The “Just B” podcast host continued to call the designer item a “piece of art.”
“You can leave this on a coffee table, and I shall,” she said proudly.
And just in case anyone was interested in the high-end handbag, Frankel was quick to note that “there were very few that were ever made in the world.”
She also modeled the bag, demonstrating how easy it is to tote around.
This isn’t the first time Frankel has been criticized for her extravagant possessions.
Last month, she was dragged for flaunting her ginormous 10-carat engagement ring on social media.
“Why would you post this? Bragging much? How do you think you make others feel who have just one carat or less?” one critic wrote.
The former Bravolebrity hit back, accusing the haters of jealousy and lacking a sense of humor.
“Seems like it makes you feel jealous,” Frankel replied. “Talk to a professional.”
