Jennette McCurdy is sharing more details about her late mom showering her, nearly one year after her bombshell memoir release.
The actress told “Louis Theroux Podcast” listeners on Monday that the alleged bathing took place until she “was 17 [or] 18.”
The “iCarly” alum, 31, recalled Debra McCurdy being clothed in the shower while “shampooing and conditioning [Jennette’s] hair [and] washing [her] body.”
Jennette claimed, “She would give me breast and vaginal exams in the shower and said that she was checking for lumps — she was just checking for cancer.”
Jennette felt “uncomfortable” and “violate[d]” but decided she couldn’t “ever try to shower [her]self again” after bringing it up once and seeing her mom’s “hysterical” reaction.
The former Nickelodeon star alleged she did not shower alone until Debra began battling cancer.
Debra lost her battle to the disease in 2013 at the age of 56, with Jennette waiting nearly one decade to release “I’m Glad My Mom Died” in 2022.
While promoting her bestselling book, the “Sam & Cat” alum read a disturbing passage aloud on a “Red Table Talk” episode.
Jennette alleged in September 2022 that Debra had her and one of her older brothers shower together until she was 11.
“He’s almost 16 at this point,” the “Empty Inside” podcast host read. “I get really embarrassed when she showers us together. I can tell he does too. … Scotty asked if he could shower himself [on his] own once. Mom sobbed and said she didn’t want him to grow up so he never asked again after that.”
Host Jada Pinkett Smith asked Jennette whether the experience influenced her current “dynamic” with her siblings — but the singer assured viewers that she remains “so close” with all three of them.
“They have been a source of love and consistency in my life when there really wasn’t much anywhere else,” Jennette said at the time. “We have such a beautiful bond … because of the things we went through together and the things we saw together.”
Jennette’s book documented more of her mom’s alleged transgressions, including introducing her to calorie counting.
