Da Brat’s rainbow baby has arrived!
The 49-year-old rapper gave birth to her and her wife Jesseca “Judy” Dupart’s first child together, a baby boy named True Legend Harris-Dupart, on July 6 after previously suffering a miscarriage.
“I can’t BELIEVE he came out of me!” the “Give It 2 You” rapper tells People Friday. “Feels like a dream. He’s PERFECT in every way.”
Da Brat says she is “very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy,” adding that “this journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined.”
Dupart, 41, also shared a video from the couple’s time in the hospital and some sweet snaps of the newborn.
“We are overwhelmed with love, Very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy,” she captioned the Instagram post. “This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined.”
Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, surprised fans with news of her pregnancy in February.
While she and the hairstylist had a “tug’o’war” over who would carry their baby, Da Brat told People at the time that Dupart decided she “should have the experience.”
Notably, Dupart welcomed three children of her own prior to her and the Grammy nominee’s February 2022 wedding.
As for Da Brat, she “never thought” children were “in the cards” for her.
“I’ve had a great career, a full life,” she explained. “I felt like because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”
However, after a surgery to remove fibroids and polyps and an embryo transfer, the “Funkdafied” performer got pregnant.
Although she suffered a miscarriage, Da Brat had a “few more eggs” left and conceived again.
She debuted her baby bump via Instagram at 18 weeks along, writing, “BLESSINGS all 2023 ❤️❤️❤️. @hopefertility thanks so much.”
The social media upload came nearly two years after Da Brat and the Kaleidoscope Hair Products founder made their romance Instagram-official.
While celebrating their first wedding anniversary in February, Da Brat encouraged her followers to “keep going” and “continue on their journey” for love.
“Finding the LOVE of your life can happen after 30, after 40 , after 50 and so on,” she wrote. “Having the life you always wanted can happen STILL.”
