Don’t mess with Shakira.
The Colombian pop superstar made a dramatic entrance at Paris Fashion Week Wednesday, attending the Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture show wearing a white coat emblazoned with a single word in giant three-dimensional letters: “NO.”
Many fans suspected Shakira was sending a not-no-subtle message to her ex-boyfriend, Gerard Piqué, with whom she shares two sons.
The “She Wolf” singer, 46, and the Spanish former soccer player, 36, broke up in June 2022 after more than a decade together amid cheating rumors.
And their bitter split has been making headlines ever since; in January, a source told us Shakira was “devastated” to learn Piqué had been allegedly having an affair with his new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, “for a lot longer than she imagined” and spending time together “in the house they shared with their children.”
She’s addressed her “hurt” in her music, and recently claimed Piqué “betrayed” her while her father was in the ICU; Piqué, for his part, has said he’s “happy” and “not apologizing” after the pair’s breakup.
“It’s been years since Shakira attends [sic] an event, it looks like she’s finally free from that man,” a fan wrote of her Paris Fashion Week outing.
Another shared a tweet in Spanish that roughly translates to: “I feel like it’s what she would wear to sign the divorce papers and run into Gerard.”
Others thought the statement-making outerwear might be Shakira’s way of confirming she’s not, in fact, dating F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, despite reports that the duo are in the “early stages” of a relationship.
Shakira and Hamilton have been spotted together several times, hanging out on a boat in Miami in May and enjoying a cozy-looking dinner date in Barcelona in June.
The “Whenever, Wherever” singer’s also been linked to Tom Cruise since her split with Piqué, but while a source told Pvnew the actor’s “extremely interested in pursuing her,” a family friend of Shakira’s told us they’re just “friends.”
“The press wants to create a romance, but she’s known Tom for a long time. She’s focused on her family,” the second insider added.
Perhaps, then, Shakira’s simply saying “no” to men in general this summer.
