This Barbie never goes out of style.
Margot Robbie again looked like a living doll as she promoted the highly anticipated “Barbie” movie in Australia today, recreating the iconic toy’s original 1959 outfit that she also wears in the forthcoming film— but with a sexy 2023 twist.
The 32-year-old actress, who plays the titular role in the Greta Gerwig-directed flick, paid homage to Barbie’s strapless black-and-white swimsuit as she wore a striped Hervé Léger bodycon dress for a promo event at Bondi Sands in Sydney.
The “Wolf of Wall Street” star committed to the look down to her shoes, wearing a pair of black peep toe Manolo Blahnik mules that looked just like her plastic inspiration and the same high, bouncy ponytail.
She even copied Barbie’s earrings and sunglasses, sporting a pair of white cat-eye shades from Jacques Marie Mage and two-toned Spinelli Kilcollin hoops ($3,400) that channeled the 1959 doll’s earrings.
Robbie’s stylist, Andrew Mukamal, shared a photo of the “Suicide Squad” actress along with a snap of the inspiration Instagram, writing “‘THE ORIGINAL’ 1959.”
Fans lost their minds over the tribute, like one who wrote, “So iconic that it probably needs a new definition.”
Others praised his work styling Robbie for all of her “Barbie” press calls, like one Instagram user who commented, “Best promo tour yet because it’s relevant, smart (with the references and call back), stylish and actually… FUN!”
“your mind is unmatched! she is serving every single look because of you!” another fan added.
Indeed, the “Babylon” star has been delivering one incredible Barbie-inspired outfit after the next as she’s promoted the movie in the past few weeks.
Whether it was the vintage pink Chanel blazer she wore to touch down at Sydney airport this week or the dotted pink Versace dress that was a recreation of a 2015 Barbie outfit, the Oscar nominee has taken her role as Barbie quite seriously.
Of course, the fabulous outfits continue in the film, with fans getting a sneak preview of some of the bright looks when Robbie joined Ryan Gosling, 42 — who plays Ken — in neon rollerskating outfits and pink cowboy gear earlier this year.
With a few weeks to go until the movie’s July 21 release, it looks like we’re in store for a very pink month.
