Dr. Zachary Okhah, who met with Jacky Oh for a “mommy makeover” procedure days before her death, has reassured his patients that his “reputation for safety is exemplary.”
The founder of the PH-1 Miami clinic spoke out less than one month after the “Wild ‘n Out” star reportedly died after traveling to Florida for a cosmetic procedure.
“Yes, my name has been in the tabloid media and understandably sensationalized given the circumstances,” Okhah said in an Instagram video Wednesday.
“Please understand that due to patient privacy laws, and out of respect for all my patients, there will never be mention of specifics, now or in the future, of any of my cases,” he explained, after coming under fire for failing to mention Oh in a previous statement after her death.
Okhah then detailed his “exemplary” standards of “safety.”
“I’m not willing to operate, without exception, if my preoperative protocols for medical clearance are not wholly met,” he explained.
Those protocols include “another physician of the patient’s choosing” verifying their “fitness for surgery” in conjunction with “other tests and labs” that he requests.
“I have operated on 2000 patients, which is roughly 6000 hours in the operating room,” Okhah continued.
“Every procedure is always performed to the highest medical standard and our safety protocols are diligently observed by my entire team.”
The “BBL specialist” concluded the video by clarifying that his “medical license remains active and unrestricted” and that he is in “good standing with the Florida Department of Health.”
“We are currently seeing patients in the office and performing surgeries,” the board-certified surgeon added.
Pvnew has reached out to Okhah but did not immediately hear back. We also reached out to Oh’s family for comment.
When Okhah first broke his silence following Oh’s death, fans criticized him for not mentioning the mom of three.
“To all my past, current and prospective patients, PH-1 Miami remains devoted to the highest quality medical care,” Okhah wrote in a statement on Instagram more than two weeks after Oh’s passed away at the age of 33.
“All aesthetic procedures are performed in a hygienically safe environment to universally recognized medical standards,” he added.
Although Okhah — who sued multiple former patients for claiming he botched their procedures in online reviews — disabled the comments, social media users still found a way to vent.
“You broke your silence and said a bunch of nothing! You are not Board certified! You also deleted any ounce of evidence off your page after you did her surgery and killed her. You’re despicable!” one person commented on Hollywood Unlocked’s screenshot of the statement.
Another added, “Damn he could have acknowledged her passing or something. I’m not sure if she passed due to his negligence or maybe she had some underlying condition, but he could have given his condolences.”
Oh, whose real name was Jacklyn Smith, died May 31. Her cause of death remains under investigation.
Days before her death, the J Nova lip gloss founder had posed alongside Okhah in a since-deleted Instagram post.
“Getting ready for my mommy makeover with Dr. Zach!! Stay tuned to my YouTube for the full reveal!” the caption read, according to a screenshot obtained by Hollywood Unlocked.
The longtime partner of “Wild ‘N Out” comedian D.C. Young Fly is survived by their three young children: Nova, Nala and Prince.
D.C., whose real name is John Whitfield, was filming the Nick Cannon-created improv show in Atlanta at the time of her passing.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jacklyn Smith, known to the world as Jacky Oh, a talented ‘Wild N’ Out’ family member whose impact will be forever treasured and missed,” BET said in a statement last month.
“Jacky Oh was a loving friend and beloved colleague of the ‘Wild N’ Out’ cast throughout five seasons. More importantly, she was a tremendous mother to three beautiful children.”
