Kim Kardashian revealed her mom Kris Jenner’s secret to parenting was a glass of vodka every day.
Speaking about the challenges of parenthood, the Skims founder praised her mother for raising six children with “six big personalities.”
“I have so much respect for parents and now I can’t believe what my mom went through,” Kardashian told Vogue Italia in an interview published Monday.
The “Kardashians” star, who has four kids of her own with ex-husband Kanye West, said she often asks Kris how she handled the chaos when her and siblings Kourtney, Khloe, Rob, Kendall and Kylie were growing up.
“She is just like, ‘Why do you think I had my vodka at 5 o’clock every day?'” Kim told the magazine.
Kim filed for divorce from the “Heartless” rapper in February 2021 after seven years of marriage. The exes share joint custody of their children, North, 10, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4.
When it comes to raising their four kids, the reality TV star, 42, admitted she was thankful as a single mom to be able to have help.
“I feel so lucky and blessed to have help, but no matter how much help you have, your babies want their mommy, you have to be the one to solve every problem and act like you have it all together,” she told the outlet.
Co-parenting with West, 46, hasn’t always been easy for the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” alum, who has had to deal with the rap superstar’s social media outbursts blasting her family and her parenting choices.
She explained how she navigates the negativity in front of her kids.
“If it’s something concerning my kids’ dad and I’m upset, I try not to show as much emotion. I have to be ready to explain why I’m upset and it might not be appropriate for them to know,” Kim told the mag.
“There is nothing worse than, ‘You’ll understand when you’re older.’ I don’t want to be that person.”
Kim admitted that her priority is setting a positive example for her children, which she learned from watching Kris, Caitlyn Jenner and her late father, Robert Kardashian.
“I think at some point you just have to surrender to not getting the last word and not having your truth out there,” she told Vogue Italia.
“I also saw a really good example from my parents. And that was helpful. It makes me want to be an example for my kids too.”
