Meghan McCain slammed Susan Sarandon on Twitter Saturday after the actress apologized for the anti-Jewish remarks she made at a rally last month.
“Susan Sarandon is a classic example of the horse shoe theory, where woke progressives try and outwoke each other to the point that they are in fact just actually exposing themselves to be racist bigots,” she tweeted Saturday.
“Like the tiki torch lunatics – they are all poison, presented differently,” McCain, 39, added, referring to the white nationalist riot that took place in Charlottesville, Va., in 2017.
The former “View” co-host’s comments came hours after Sarandon, 77, issued an apology for the controversial remarks she made about Jews at a recent pro-Palestine rally in NYC.
“Recently, I attended a rally alongside a diverse group of activists seeking to highlight the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza and call for a ceasefire,” she wrote on Instagram Friday night. “I had not planned to speak but was invited to take the stage and say a few words.”
The “Thelma & Louise” star — who said last month that Jewish people were “getting a taste of what it is like to be Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence” — said that her phrasing was a “terrible mistake as it implies that until recently Jews have been strangers to persecution, when the opposite is true.”
Sarandon then listed some of the acts of violence that the Jews have endured, such as the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh and the “genocide” in Europe.
“I deeply regret diminishing this reality and hurting people with this comment,” she added. “It was my intent to show solidarity in the struggle against bigotry of all kinds, and I am sorry I failed to do so.”
Sarandon faced backlash for the comments she made on Nov. 17.

Insiders told us at the time that several UTA employees were “extremely hurt” by Sarandon’s rant.
