Louis Tomlinson’s concert at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre had to be canceled at the last minute due to a severe hail storm.
At around 9:30 Wednesday night, concertgoers were eagerly waiting for the “Two of Us” singer to take the stage, when suddenly, large hail stones started dumping down on them.
Despite rushing to find shelter, seven people were taken to the hospital and an additional 90 were treated for cuts, bruises and broken bones in the medical tents.
Many fans’ cars were also damaged in the storm.
One fan told CBS Colorado that the venue warned them about the incoming storm just moments before the chaos.
“We didn’t expect it to happen. It was just like, ‘Oh, warning take shelter,’ then all of a sudden, boom!” Mikayla Ingram said.
Just a few hours later, the former One Direction singer tweeted he was “devastated” about having to cancel the show.
“Sending all my love out to everyone that was affected by the extreme weather at Red Rocks last night,” Tomlinson wrote in another statement on Thursday. “I hope everyone has made it home safely and anyone injured is on the mend, it was devastating to see so many of you affected.”
He also thanked his crew and the first responders for their “speed and care” in handling the situation in such “extreme circumstances.”
Tomlinson, 31, is slated to play in Seattle, Wash., on Saturday for the next stop on his “Faith in the Future World Tour.”
This week has been a wild week for concerts, with many of the incidents involving crazy fan encounters.
Bebe Rexha had to get stitches on Sunday night after a careless concertgoer hurled a cellphone at her face while she was performing in New York City.
Video from the event shows the “I’m Good” singer, 33, falling to her knees in pain after being hit in the eye.
The alleged attacker, Nicolas Malvagna, was later arrested and charged with assault.
Just days later, a man rushed on stage towards the end of Ava Max’s concert in Los Angeles.
While he was being escorted out by security, the man slapped the “Sweet But Psycho” singer in the face.
“He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye,” Max, 29, tweeted after the show. “He’s never coming to a show again thank you to the fans for being spectacular tonight in LA though!!”
