Kevin Costner’s former tenant Daniel Starr claims he “absolutely” did not “hook up” with the “Yellowstone” alum’s estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner.
When asked on Wednesday about the nature of his relationship with the duo, Starr told TMZ he was “just a guy who paid [his] rent” and tries “to be friendly to everybody.”
He noted, “I just had a tenant landlord relationship [with them], nothing else.
“There was nothing there,” the real estate developer continued. “They have kids and are going through a divorce.”
Starr went on to share his well-wishes for the exes amid their split.
“I just hope that it ends peacefully for them,” he told the outlet. “I hope his divorce resolves and his kids are minimally impacted.”
Costner, 68, and Baumgartner, 49, have been married since 2004, with the handbag designer filing for divorce from the actor in May.
The former couple share three kids — Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13 — and have had a contentious breakup.
Not only did Baumgartner make headlines this month for allegedly refusing to move out of their Santa Barbara, Calif., home and requesting $248,000 a month in child support, but a report surfaced Monday about her friendship with Starr.
“After he moved in, he became close friends with Chris and Kevin,” a source told The Sun. “They’d hang out together with their kids. But Kevin was always away filming, so Chris must have been lonely.”
The insider alleged that Baumgartner hung out “almost daily” with Starr, which led to Costner confronting the tech titan after a fallout.
The situation reportedly “escalated from there,” with Starr’s lease ending early after a legal dispute with the Oscar winner.
Costner’s rep has yet to reply to Pvnew’s request for comment.
