Kathy Hilton can’t help but get emotional when thinking about reconciling with sister Kyle Richards after their relationship was tested on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
The socialite, 64 — who last appeared on the Bravo reality show as a “friend of” the cast in Season 12 — recounted her summer reunion with Richards, 54, in an exclusive new interview with Pvnew.
“When I saw Kyle in Aspen at [sister] Kim [Richards’] daughter’s wedding, I walked [into] a very quiet hair salon and Kyle, she was getting her hair washed,” she told us Tuesday night during her “DIRECTV Celebrates Christmas at Kathy’s” party at her Bel Air mansion.
Hilton noted that the “very quiet” salon was interrupted by a joyful shriek from Kyle, who was delighted by the sight of her older sibling before niece Whitney Davis wed Luke White on June 24.
“She goes, ‘Oh, there’s my sister!’” elaborated Hilton, whose eyes began welling up with tears.
“And I was literally like … it made me feel so good,” she said, her voice cracking. “I hadn’t seen her yet. But she was so excited telling the person, so it made me feel good.”
The sisters’ repaired bond was on full display at the festive event, where they posed together on the step-and-repeat.
At one point, Kyle crashed Hilton’s interview with Pvnew as the latter shared her thoughts on the “RHOBH” OG’s separation from husband Mauricio Umansky.
“Look, I would love it if they could put it back together. I mean, of course,” Hilton said, while noting that Kyle “is not the type that would just carelessly” upend her nearly 28-year marriage.
“Well, she says that because she’s confused why people think that it’s not true that we’re actually separated, which I don’t know who would think something like that,” Kyle told us, referencing rumors that she and the Agency CEO faked their split for reality TV ratings.
“But I’m grateful that we’re friends and we’re navigating this as best as we can,” she continued, describing her current dynamic with Umansky, 53, whom she spent a “beautiful” Thanksgiving with and has plans to celebrate Christmas together.
Hilton noted that the exes — who share daughters Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15, while Kyle shares eldest daughter Farrah Brittany, 35, with ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie — consistently prioritize their family bond despite any ongoing marital strife.
“They do love each other and they put their children first,” Hilton said before turning to Kyle directly: “And I think you’ll always have those times and celebrate.”
Kyle mentioned that she and Umansky are “taking it a day at a time right now” after navigating a “challenging” time in their relationship, presently playing out on “RHOBH.”
Hilton, for her part, is holding out hope that their love story is far from over. “You never know,” she said.
The sisters’ supportive dynamic is a welcome change after feuding on last year’s installment of “RHOBH.” Notably, Hilton felt that Kyle didn’t have her back amid a feud with then-co-star Lisa Rinna — an era of drama they have put behind them.
“It just feels really nice to be in a great place with my sister,” said Kyle, “especially around the holidays.”
Hilton’s DIRECTV Christmas bash — which included custom drinks, a Kemosabe-inspired Casa Del Sol tequila bar and a garden covered in real snow — attracted countless names across the Bravo-verse.
Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, Mary Cosby and Angie Katsanevas of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” Guerdy Abraira and Larsa Pippen of “The Real Housewives of Miami” and Scheana Shay of “Vanderpump Rules,” plus others, attended the fete.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
