Tom Brady is reflecting on his parental shortcomings on Father’s Day.
“Being a Dad is the best thing in my life. I have learned so much about what it takes from my Dad and to be able to pass that on to Jack, Benny and Vivi means the world to me,” the NFL legend, 45, wrote on Instagram Sunday.
He then shared that his kids have “taught” him how to “be present” and “cherish every moment,” before admitting that he is “still working on this daily” because “that’s what matters most.”
Brady shares two kids with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen: son, Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9. He also has a son, Jack, 15, with “Blue Bloods” actress Bridget Moynahan.
The football superstar concluded by writing of his children, “Their love for others and constant selflessness makes me so proud to be their dad, and I know those traits come directly from everyone who is part of their life.
“Thank you Dad, for being you, and thank you to my three amazing kids, for giving me the pleasure of being your Dad.”
Brady’s introspective message comes less than a year after his marriage to Bündchen ended. The former couple split following claims that the supermodel had grown tired of the athlete working too much and not spending enough time with their family.
Bündchen had repeatedly told Brady to “be more present” over his ongoing NFL career.
“This is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” the former Victoria’s Secret Angel, 42, told Elle magazine last September.
The mother of two also noted at the time that she had “definitely had those conversations” with her then-husband “over and over again.”
In October 2022, Bündchen filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage.
Shortly after, the Brazilian beauty wrote on her Instagram Story, “My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart.
“We have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.”
In a statement of his own, Brady wrote on his Instagram Story at the time that he and Bündchen made the “painful and difficult” decision “after much consideration.”
Since the divorce, the father of three has shared photos of him hanging out with his kids and is planning on taking them to Europe this summer.
