Kristen Doute suffered a miscarriage while trying to conceive her first baby with her boyfriend, Luke Broderick.
The “Vanderpump Rules” alum told her “Sex, Love and What Else Matters” podcast listeners about her “f–king terrifying” loss at six weeks along in Sunday’s episode.
“I only feel comfortable talking about this because I know so many friends of mine have gone through this. I know so many women have been through this,” she said.
Doute, 40, explained that her pregnancy was not viable and considered a blighted ovum, meaning an embryo had not developed.
“You always think, ‘What’s wrong, what did I do wrong? Could I have done something different?'” she said. “And my doctor and my friends have told me, inside and out up and down, there’s no cause. They don’t know why.”
The former reality star went on to share her and Broderick’s hopes to continue trying for their rainbow baby after conceiving “so quickly.”
She said, “The only silver lining, the fact that we’ve now been digesting this for the last four or five days, is that I know once Luke and I are past this, we can try again.
“We were so so lucky, because it could have gone a different way for me at my age. I haven’t gone through IVF, I haven’t frozen my eggs, I haven’t done anything. I just think there’s something in God’s plan.”
After calling the miscarriage “unfortunate,” Doute added, “We’re very hopeful to have a very healthy pregnancy the next time around.”
As for Broderick, he said the loss had been “hard” for them and was difficult to talk about publicly.
The couple, who have been dating since 2022, revealed in an episode last month that they want to become parents.
“I did go to my OBGYN and we got all good news on that front,” Doute explained at the time. “So whenever we are ready to start trying, so far it looks good.”
The former Bravolebrity noted that since a psychic told her she would have a baby boy “somewhere between 41 and 42,” she was not “going to worry about having a baby in 2023.”
Many of Doute’s former “Vanderpump Rules” co-stars have had children in recent years, with Stassi Schroeder most recently giving birth to baby boy Messer.
Schroeder is also the mother of daughter Hartford, while Lala Kent, Scheana Shay, Brittany Cartwright and Kristina Kelly each have one child.
