Nicolle Wallace’s family just grew by one.
The MSNBC anchor announced Tuesday that she welcomed a baby girl via surrogate with her husband, Michael S. Schmidt.
Wallace, 51, and Schmidt, 40, named their newborn Isabella Sloane.
“Viewers of the program have probably noticed that Nicolle has been missing from this chair the past week,” fill-in anchor Alicia Menendez said at the top of a segment on “Deadline: White House” before welcoming the new mom back for a brief return.
Wallace acknowledged viewers’ theories about her absence before confirming the baby news.
“Mike and Liam and I are smitten with her,” the news personality shared, referencing her 11-year-old son from a previous marriage. “Our dogs are still rendering judgment. But we were able to keep it secret, obviously, because I wasn’t pregnant, but I never meant to keep it secret from our beloved viewers.
“I am so happy to share our happy news today.”
Nicolle shares Liam with her ex-husband, Mark Wallace, to whom she was married from 2005 to 2019.
The former “The View” co-host admitted there are “pros and cons” to becoming a second-time mom at her age.
“You are tired. I was up all night last night, and I was, like, ‘Wow, yeah, this is what 3:45 a.m. looks like,’” she said.
“I don’t see it a lot anymore. But it’s a blessing to be, you know, focused again on what has always grounded me, and that’s my beautiful family.”
Nicolle did not share when she will return from maternity leave.
Pvnew broke the news in April 2022 that Nicolle and Schmidt, a New York Times writer and MSNBC contributor, had secretly tied the knot in an intimate ceremony.
We also exclusively reported in March 2019 that the couple had begun dating. The two met on the set of her show, as he frequently appears as a guest and commentator.
