Jenna Bush Hager slipped up and accidentally referred to her husband as “daddy” on Monday’s episode of “Today with Hoda and Jenna.”
The co-anchor had the slip of the tongue while talking about how her 4-year-old son, Hal, and her husband, Henry Hager, want to dress up as the father and son versions of the “Trolls” character, Guy Diamond.
“Hal wants to be baby Diamond and have daddy be — first of all, I just called him daddy on television,” Jenna said as her co-anchor, Hoda Kotb, and the show’s producers and camera crew immediately began laughing.
“Oh gosh, I just called my husband daddy. I need to be put in some sort of, is there like a corner where I can go sit for a few minutes just to think?” Jenna, 41, jokingly said.
Kotb attempted to make her feel better by saying that lots of people would sound “crazy” if “all the things” they said in private were made public before moving on to another topic.
Jenna has never been one to shy away from talking about her personal life and family. However, she previously fessed up to going “too far” when she made a joke about having an “affair” while on air.
Last month, she and Kotb had been discussing their love for men when the former admitted that she found a man perched in a park bench reading attractive.
“If they have little eyeglasses too, just sitting reading, and if they’re reading something I respect? I mean, that could be a means for an affair,” she joked before immediately taking back her comment.
“I would never. Henry and I are very happy,” Jenna quickly said, emphasizing she was “just kidding.”
“I shouldn’t have said that! I went too far,” she reiterated.
The former First Daughter has been married to Henry since May 2008 after meeting during her father George W. Bush’s presidential campaign in 2004.
They share three children together: daughters Margaret “Mila” Laura, 10, and Poppy Louise, 8, and son, Hal, 4.
