Elon Musk is a man on the move.
His ex-girlfriend Grimes had a difficult time trying to get ahold of him to serve him with custody papers and tried to track him down in at least 12 different locations, according to recently filed court documents.
The Canadian singer, 35, hired four different process servers who went to Musk’s X’s headquarters in San Francisco, SpaceX’s launch site in Boca Chica, Texas, Tesla’s factory in Austin and other addresses within the southern city, per docs filed on Nov. 3 and obtained by Business Insider.
One of the process servers reportedly even went to the tech mogul’s horse ranch in Texas. but was told by a woman, “Nope, not here.”
The servers reportedly went to great lengths to try and locate Musk, 52, from Oct. 13 to Oct. 20, including tracking his private jets, per the court docs.
According to California law, papers must be “served” to any other person involved in a particular lawsuit.
“If the papers are not served in the correct way at the correct time, the court cannot go forward with the case,” the Superior Court of California’s website states.
After multiple failed attempts, Grimes’ process servers were reportedly forced to leave the legal documents with Musk’s security at X, Tesla and SpaceX.
Pvnew has reached out to the “Genesis” singer’s attorney for further comment but did not immediately hear back.
Grimes, whose real name in Claire Boucher, sued Musk in California for the parental rights of their three children, X Æ A-Xii, 3, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus, both 1.
She did not request child support in the initial Sept. 29 filing.
It was then revealed that Musk had actually sued Grimes first in Texas and he accused his ex of “attempting to circumvent the jurisdiction” in his home state by declaring herself a non-resident.
The businessman also claimed in the court documents that he had “actual care, control, and possession of each child since the birth of each child,” noting, more specifically, that the care took place in Texas, where he resides full time, for at least “six consecutive months.”
Grimes later slammed Musk’s lawsuit, calling it “inappropriate” and requested it be tossed out.
She alleged at the time that her children’s father spends at least two to three days on the West Coast.
A final decision as to which state has jurisdiction over their custody matters has not been decided.
Grimes and Musk dated from 2018 until their split in March 2022.
