While most of us know Timothée Chalamet as this generation’s ultimate heartthrob, Pauline Chalamet just sees him as her baby brother.
“When I see him on the big screen, for me that’s just the result of his job,” the actress told W Magazine in 2021. “As for the rest, I don’t really experience the frenzy around him.”
The siblings, who are four years apart in age, grew up in New York City and despite their hectic lifestyles, they have remained super close.
In fact, Pauline was photographed hanging out with the “Dune” star’s latest love interest, Kylie Jenner, at a low-key barbecue in May 2023 — one month after the pair first sparked romance rumors.
While it’s unclear if Kylie got the big sister stamp of approval, keep scrolling to learn more about the up-and-coming actress.
What does she do for work?
Like her brother, Pauline has been a performer since an early age.
At just 10 years old, she danced in a production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on Broadway.
After landing small cameos here and there, Pauline finally got her big break in Pete Davidson’s semi-autobiographical film, “The King of Staten Island.”
Soon after, she landed a starring role on HBO’s hit comedy series, “Sex Lives of College Girls,” which completely changed the trajectory of her career.
Although Pauline loves being in front of the camera, she also loves being behind it.
“I love both and I admire both. When I am behind the camera, whether as a director or a producer and I see the work that the actors do, I always have a little voice in me that says to me: ‘The work of an actor is just extraordinary,’” she told L’Officiel in 2021.
The actress even co-founded her own production company, Gummy Films, in 2019.
Who are her parents?
It’s no surprise that Pauline and Timothée chose a career in the arts based on their family ties.
The siblings’ French-born father, Marc Chalamet, has been a journalist for nearly 40 years and currently works as an editor for the United Nations.
Meanwhile, their mother, Nicole Flender, started her career as a broadway dancer before becoming a real estate broker in NYC.
Nicole’s brother, Rodman Flender, is a successful Hollywood writer, director, and producer.
Some of Rodman’s notable credits include “The Office,” “Gilmore Girls” and “Ugly Betty.”
Rodman’s wife, Amy Lippman, is the co-creator of “Party of Five” and executive producer of “Masters of Sex.”
Where does she live?
Despite growing up in the States, Pauline currently lives in Paris.
The bilingual actress, who has dual citizenship in both the U.S. and France, moved after graduating from Bard College in 2014 — without even telling her family.
“I definitely feel like Paris is my home,” she explained to W Magazine, admitting that she still likes to play “tourist” every now and then.
Although she resides in the City of Love, she spends a lot of time in LA — which she insists is solely for her career.
“The advice I was getting was, basically, ‘Paris is great and you can live there, but if you’re interested in things going faster, you have to come to the US,’” she told Nylon in 2021.
However, Pauline says she is “repulsed” by “the way the acting industry is sold” in Hollywood.
“It’s very much like, ‘Luck is all you need. And you sell your soul to just do it.’ It can be so hard and ruthless and relentless.”
What are her hobbies?
Before she fell in love with cinema, Pauline wanted to be a ballerina.
As a child, she attended the prestigious School of American Ballet, which feeds directly to the New York City Ballet.
Yet now that she has hung up her ballet slippers, Pauline spends most of her free time reading.
The actress reads nearly one book a week, outshining all of her friends in book club.
“I read both in French and English and often a couple of books at once, mixing fiction and non-fiction,” she told W Magazine.
Pauline often gives her 360K Instagram followers a peak at her latest reads, posting lists of book recommendations if they’re up for the challenge.
