She may have to just shake it off.
Legendary quarterback Brett Favre thinks Kansas City Chiefs fans may turn on Taylor Swift if their beloved NFL team does not make it to the Super Bowl this year.
When TMZ asked the former Green Bay Packers player, 54, Saturday if he thinks the pop superstar, 34, is a “distraction” for the tight end, also 34, he responded, “I think it’ll be a distraction if they don’t make it to the Super Bowl.”
“If they don’t win it or get to the Super Bowl, people are going to say, ‘That’s why,'” Favre added.
However, the retired NFL star, who won a Super Bowl himself in 1997, still thinks the Chiefs have a shot at making it to the championship game.
“Until someone proves me otherwise, I think they’ll go all the way,” Favre said before noting that the Baltimore Ravens are playing “outstanding.”
The Chiefs are set to play the Miami Dolphins next on Saturday night at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., and it’s unclear whether Swift will be in attendance to root for Kelce.
The “Lover” singer was at one of her beau’s latest games, though, against the Cincinnati Bengals on New Year’s Eve, and the Chiefs walked away with the win that time.
However, just a few days prior, Kelce and his teammates lost against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day in front Swift, who was later seen comforting her boyfriend after the game.
Swift has been attending most of Kelce’s games since they first made their romance public when she showed up at Arrowhead Stadium for the first time with his mom, Donna Kelce, in September 2023.
Earlier in the season, the stats reportedly showed that Travis actually played better when the Grammy winner was present.
“When T. Swift is at the game, you’re averaging 99 yards,” his brother, Jason Kelce, said on their podcast, “New Heights,” in October 2023. “And when you’re left with only your friends and remaining family there, you are at 46.5 yards a game.”
A source previously noted that even Travis himself thought Swift was his “good luck” charm at games.
The Chiefs’ head coach, Andy Reid, has also spoken in favor of the “Anti-Hero” songstress, saying in November 2023 that he thought it was a “good thing” that the couple had gotten together.
A source also reassured the public that Travis’ “priority is the Chiefs” despite his budding romance.
However, if the Kansas City team don’t make it to the Super Bowl and Swift does get blamed as Favre suggested, she wouldn’t be the first famous woman to catch flack for a pro athlete underperforming.
In the early aughts, Jessica Simpson was famously ridiculed when her then-boyfriend, Tony Romo, lost many Dallas Cowboys games amid their relationship.
His teammate Terrell Owens said at the time, “Right now [she’s] not a fan favorite – in this locker room or in Texas Stadium.”
Fans reportedly also hoped the “With You” singer wouldn’t go to games, fearing that she would jinx Romo.
