Paul Walker’s brother Cody Walker is honoring his late brother.
Cody, 34, shared that he and wife Felicia Knox have named their newborn son Paul in honor of the “Fast & Furious” star, who died in 2013.
“Paul Barrett (“Bear”) Walker was born 7 lbs., 4 oz. on Sunday, April 30, in Arizona,” reports People. Twenty-four hours later, the now-parents of three decided on the “perfect” name for their baby boy.
“This November will mark 10 years since we lost my brother, Paul, and I just felt now was the appropriate time,” Cody, who lives in Arizona with his wife and their other children, a 5-year-old daughter and a 2½-year-old son, told the outlet.
Cody also explained why it was so important to continue the name Paul in the Walker family.
“My brother, Caleb, and I are both done having children,” he shared. “My brother, Paul, was Paul William Walker IV and that name goes back four generations.
“Within the family, he went by ‘little Paul’ or ‘Paul 4,’ even though he quickly outgrew our father in height. It was important to me to have that name carry on.”
Paul, who was best known for his role as Brian O’Conner in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, died in a fiery car crash at age 40.
At the time, the “Joy Ride” star had not finished filming his role in “Furious 7.” It was released after rewrites and stand-ins, which included both Cody and Caleb.
Cody is also helping to keep his brother’s memory alive through his involvement with FuelFest, which kicks off at Irwindale Speedway in California on June 3.
The motorsports festival celebrates car culture and also raises money for Reach Out Worldwide, a nonprofit charity Paul established in January 2010 after seeing the aftermath of a massive earthquake in Haiti.
Cody is not the only Walker family member who honors the late “Varsity Blues” actor.
Paul’s daughter, Meadow, who was only 15 when her dad died, also helps keep her father’s memory alive by working with the Paul Walker Foundation.
Last year, the model told Pvnew that she takes comfort in watching her dad’s movies.
“They always say the first thing you forget about someone is their voice, so I’m fortunate enough to have his voice in many movies,” she shared.
“I like to watch [his movies] at night. For me, it brings me joy to talk about him and keep his spirit alive.”
