Al Roker is walking on sunshine, albeit a little gingerly.
After the “Today” show weatherman, 68, was honored with the No Kid Hungry Champion Award on Monday, he shared a snap of himself posing with kids Nicholas and pregnant daughter Courtney and her husband, Wesley Laga.
“Last night, I put on real pants for the first time in 2 weeks since knee revision surgery to accept the #shareourstrength @nokidhungry Champion Award last night,” he wrote on Instagram Tuesday alongside a carousel of photos from the event.
The photos come just two weeks after the television personality received a second knee replacement.
“I’ve had a number of replacements,” he said on the morning show after the operation, “this one has been the toughest one yet because they had to take out the old one which had some complications and put in a new one.”
It has been a challenging few months health-wise for Roker.
Late last year, he was hospitalized for several weeks because of blood clots and internal bleeding.
“I lost half my blood. They were trying to figure out where it was,” Roker, recalled of his massive health scare, joking that he “went in for one operation [and] got four free.”
After discovering he had two bleeding ulcers, doctors re-sectioned his colon, removed his gallbladder and redid his duodenum in his small intestine.
Roker’s wife, newscaster Deborah Roberts, later revealed how serious the situation was.
“I have to say — I’m not overstating it, I don’t think — Al was a very, very sick man,” she shared, “and I think most people did not know that.”
Last March, the NBC star told Pvnew that he was “overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and prayers” that came his way while hospitalized, adding that he “wouldn’t be alive” Roberts.
Despite his health concerns, there has been one particularly bright spot on Roker’s horizon.
His eldest daughter, Courtney, is expecting a baby girl.
The recipe developer and her husband’s first child is due in June, three months after they revealed the exciting news via Instagram.
“A new adventure is about to begin,” she wrote at the time, alongside a baby bottle and heart emoji.
“Here we go! So very very happy!!!!!” Roker commented, with his wife sharing her own “excite[ment].”
The “Never Goin’ Back” author told the “Today” show viewers that he found out the sex of the baby when Courtney, 36, accidentally texted him the word “granddaughter” during a conversation about a sonogram picture.
Roker adopted Courtney in 1987 with his then-wife, Alice Bell. After they divorced in 1994, he married Roberts, 62, the following year.
The couple, who is set to celebrate 28 years of marriage this fall, share son Nicholas, 20, and daughter Leila, 24.
