Kyle Richards got into an argument with Mauricio Umansky while celebrating their youngest daughter’s birthday on Wednesday’s episode of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
Richards and Umansky — who have since confirmed that they are separated — began bickering after the actress told his mom that he had gotten a tattoo.
“I told your mom you have a tattoo,” Richards told her husband in front of two of their daughters while putting the birthday candles in the cake.
Umansky immediately seemed irritated and asked her, “What is wrong with you?”
She initially attempted to explain her actions, but Umansky shut her down, saying it was his place to tell his mom before storming out of the kitchen and back to the party.
“Now he’s mad at me,” Richards, 54, told her daughters, to which one responded that she was “in troubs.”
Richards eventually joined the rest of the family at the dinner table and attempted to reassure Umansky, 53, that his mom “doesn’t know for sure” about the tattoo.
“Whatever, I don’t wanna talk about that right now,” Umansky clapped back.
Richards once again tried to mumble that his mom “wasn’t mad,” but it only seemed to make Umansky more upset.
“It’s not about that. It’s mine to talk about it, not anybody else’s and not, and you know, whether I choose to talk about it or not, I don’t wanna talk about it now. I don’t wanna talk about it,” Umansky quietly but firmly told her.
Richards then got up from the table to cut the cake in the kitchen with a friend, telling them with a sigh, “He’s so mad about his mom knowing about the tattoos, he’s like, ‘that’s my thing to talk about, and I don’t wanna be on camera talking about it.”
In a confessional, she claimed she thought it would be “funny” to see her mother-in-law’s reaction, but after seeing her husband’s reaction, she admitted, “I really wish I had not said anything.”
Richards also admitted in a confessional that this type of fight happens “when [people] go through a rough time.”
“Here we are. It’s been rough,” she added.
Earlier on in the episode, Umansky and Richards got into a different tiff after she prepared for the birthday party and he asked her to “clean up the mail.”
“That’s a good time to tell me,” Richards replied while awkwardly laughing.
“I just told you how overwhelmed and stressed I am, and you’re telling me to clean up the mail. It’s a good time to tell me that?”
To add to her stress, Umansky’s mom later bluntly asked Richards if “everything is OK with you and Mauricio?”
“Every time I open Google, there’s like something about you guys separating, divorcing, whatever. It got to a point in which I called Mauricio or I sent him a text. I said, ‘Is everything OK?’ You know, generally, I don’t believe these things, but it’s too much. Who started this?” Estella asked Richards.
The “Halloween” actress told her they were fine, but the rumor mill kicked off after paps caught Richards leaving the gym with her wedding ring on.
“I’m very taken aback that my mother-in-law is asking me this right now tonight,” Richards said in a confessional.
“Yes, Mo and I have been having a hard time, but the picture of me without my ring has nothing to do with that. I’ve still been wearing a wedding band, so why are people saying that because of one time when I was lifting weights before that?” she continued.
After the photo had resurfaced, Richards previously told Pvnew she was “unbothered” by the rumblings.
“When this stuff would come up before, I would like, cry and I was devastated,” she told us in April. “But now, I’m more like, ‘OK, I’ve done this before. Let’s do this. Bring it on. Come on. Let’s see what you got for me here.’”
Despite both Richards and Umansky initially denying their separation amid their “challenging year,” they each confirmed in September that they were indeed separated after 27 years of marriage.
The former couple tied the knot in 1996 and share three daughters: Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15. Richards also has daughter Farrah Aldjufrie, 35, from her first marriage.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
