Lindsay Hubbard was “completely blindsided” when her ex-fiancé Carl Radke broke up with her and called off their engagement on camera over the summer.
“He blew up my entire life. I was crying, I was angry and I had to find closure on my own. Now I’m at a place where I feel really good about moving on,” the former publicist told Us Weekly in an interview published Wednesday.
Hubbard called the split “absolutely humiliating” — especially since, in her mind, they had only “had a couple of arguments” leading up to it.
“Every couple has normal arguments, but nothing that would’ve been so drastic as to break up. It was literally the last two weeks of summer that his demeanor and tone changed. There was a lot of combativeness and aggression on his end, and I was very confused,” she claimed.
To add fuel to the fire, Hubbard also didn’t appreciate Radke’s decision to film the breakup for “Summer House” after cameras had already stopped rolling a few weeks beforehand.
“It would’ve been one thing if this conversation happened over the summer during the normal filming schedule. But for [Carl] to call up producers and then set up cameras and manipulate me into sitting down [so he could break up with me] after we’d already wrapped is scary,” she shared.
The Bravolebrity, 37, further claimed that the “whole world found out within 30 minutes” of the breakup happening in late August.
“No one saw it coming, not one person,” she said. “There were no red flags. Two weeks before he called it off, I was at my bridal shower and he showed up. One week before, I was at my dress fitting, and he was fitting for his suits with all of his groomsmen.”
Hubbard also denied speculation that cheating or Radke’s sobriety played any role in the split.
She said she initially went through several stages of grief, including “sadness,” “pain” and “whiplash,” but she was eventually able to pick herself back up after her ex’s “absolute betrayal of trust.”
Hubbard confirmed that she let Radke, 38, figure out the logistics of cancelling their wedding and that she is selling her 3.5-carat engagement ring.
“I gave it to my jeweler to sell it. I need to make up for all the lost money on the wedding,” she said.
Hubbard also revealed that she is still living in their shared New York City apartment.
“I love my apartment. I spent a lot of time, money and effort to make this home comfortable for us, for him to then burn it down. And at this point, I’m not in the mind space to think about, ‘Oh, where am I gonna live now?'” she explained.
Meanwhile, their co-star Kyle Cooke recently told E! News that Radke is “basically homeless” while “letting [Hubbard] live in the apartment that they both pay for.”
Despite the “humiliating” split, Hubbard emphasized that she is still open to love.
“I will never give up on love. I have a very big heart; I’m not going to shut myself off from somebody else who would appreciate it,” she shared.
Pvnew confirmed just before Labor Day weekend that Radke had called off the wedding three months before they were set to say “I do” in Mexico.
Two weeks later, Hubbard broke her silence and claimed she still had “no answers or closure on why” he made the decision.
Radke has yet to publicly address the split, but he did write that Hubbard was “devastated” and he was “crushed” over the situation in a letter he sent to wedding guests shortly after the breakup.
The exes publicly came face-to-face for the first time when they both attended the “Winter House” Season 3 premiere party last week.
Eyewitnesses told Pvnew that Hubbard was “openly avoiding” Radke, while he appeared “very somber” and “left shortly after [she] arrived.”
