Jenna Bush Hager was forced to publicly apologize to her friend, jewelry designer Jennifer Miller, after she shamed her on live television for not returning her Taylor Swift T-shirt.
During the “Social Dilemma” segment on Friday’s episode of the “Today” show, the anchorwoman turned to Hoda Kotb and asked her if “Jen Miller still [has] my Taylor Swift T-shirt.”
“Wait, wait, you’re not gonna believe this,” Kotb said while cracking up. “She sent a package, and it’s in my dressing room for you. For you!”
Gasping, Bush Hager noted that she is now in her own “social dilemma” because she feels like she “guilted” Miller into returning the T-shirt after seemingly shaming her in a previous episode.
While Kotb bolted offset to retrieve the package, Bush Hager filled in the viewers on the situation.
“Here’s a ‘Today’ show social dilemma. Jenna, on TV, tells Hoda that Hoda has given Jen Miller a shirt of mine and never returned it. Jen Miller is embarrassed and decided to send it back to Hoda to give to Jenna. Is that a dilemma?” Bush Hager, 41, asked into the camera.
Kotb, 59, then rejoined her co-host and gave her a bag that included the shirt, a handwritten note and a jewelry bag.
“Oh Jen, I feel sorry that I made a big deal. Oh, and she even gave me something because she felt bad!” Bush Hager said while going through the goodies.
The shirt in question featured Swift’s last name in all caps with the number “89” — Travis Kelce’s jersey number — under it.
“Oh, Jen, this was only $9.99 on Amazon, and it looks like it could fit a cat,” she added.
As she expressed her remorse over the situation, she opened the jewelry bag to find a gold beaded wrap bracelet from Miller’s own jewelry brand and immediately put it on.
“She wrote a handwritten note. Guess who was the social dilemma of that one? Me, for shaming her on television and shaming you, thank you, Jen Miller,” she concluded.
The “Today” show airs on NBC Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET.
