Halibutting heads.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos got into a playful argument while rehashing the “Riverdale” actor’s lack of consideration for his wife’s dietary restrictions on Monday’s episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark.”
Ripa told viewers that while they were at a gala benefiting New York City parks over the weekend, she went to the bathroom and Consuelos was left to his own devices with ordering the entrée.
But when Ripa — a “known vegetarian” — returned, she had a “giant” piece of halibut on her plate, while Consuelos got a vegetarian eggplant option for himself, despite him not being a vegetarian.
“Mark and I have been married a really long time, almost three decades. that’s a long time by long-time standards, but this man has no idea who I am,” Ripa said while she and Consuelos laughed.
Ripa, 53, then argued that she was the “only person with fish at our table.”
“No, that’s not true, that’s not true! Everybody had fish except for me and Hamilton because I made such a face and the lady said, ‘You don’t want that?'” Consuelos, 52, explained.
He insinuated that the eggplant wasn’t a main option, since the waitress said she “may be able to find some eggplant,” and he replied that he “would love one” since halibut is “not my thing.”
“And so would my wife! The vegetarian!” Ripa quickly shouted back as to what Consuelos should have said.
Consuelos followed up by saying he “didn’t want to be fussy” and ask for another eggplant. Instead, he asked Ripa if she’d like some of his eggplant.
“No, I don’t want your eggplant! I want my own eggplant! That’s what I want, I want my own eggplant!” Ripa quipped.
To fuel the fire, their friend Hamilton also got a vegetarian option of quinoa with vegetables.
“One vegetarian at the table, only one vegetarian at the table — me! And the two guys to my right had quinoa and veg and this one had eggplant,” she continued.
Ripa admitted that she didn’t totally let the situation go, because when Consuelos attempted to take her slice of cake, she got “very irritated.”
“I let you have a bite, but you could’ve had the whole cake if you had just ordered me eggplant anyway,” she concluded.
Just last week, Ripa and Consuelos got into another lighthearted argument when Ripa revealed that Consuelos “always” orders her an Eggs Benedict for brunch, despite her telling him she hates them and has given him several other options to choose from.
