Social media users slammed influencer Remi Bader for reselling Halloween costumes as “never worn” despite wearing them in a TikTok video.
The plus-size model, who is known for her “realistic clothing hauls,” listed a series of items on her Poshmark page after trying them on for her Spirit Halloween video last week.
“Why would you sell your Halloween costumes as unused when we see you in them,” one fan asked during a Q&A on Bader’s Instagram Story on Sunday.
The content creator responded, “me trying on an outfit with tags on for 10 seconds and taking them off is not considered worn.”
She added, “It’s like trying it on in a store and not buying it. Everytime [sic] I do realistic hauls I fully buy the clothes myself which can be thousands of dollars. … I sold the costumes as unworn because they are!”
However, not everyone agreed with Bader’s rationale, including one Redditor who wrote, “Remi…they were up your ass crack.”
Another chimed in, “I agree in theory but she was literally on the ground, on all fours with the costume buried in her buttcrack. That is not just ‘trying it on’ lol.”
A third person defended the TikToker, writing, “idk i kinda agree with her lol, to me ‘used’ means u left the house with it on.”
The remaining costume listings, which include a Glinda the Good Witch dress and a Harley Quinn jumpsuit, now read, “only tried on once – never worn out.”
In her original video, Bader criticized Spirit Halloween for its lack of range in the retailer’s plus-size department.
“Back again with another realistic Spirit Halloween haul,” she began.
While trying on an Ursula costume from “The Little Mermaid,” Bader quipped, “This is my thing, and I’m not trying to s–t on you Spirit Halloween, but just because you’re making a few more options in plus-size doesn’t mean they have to be not-cute.”
She added, “This is what brands get a little confused with: Just because people are bigger, they think they need to be covered and they need to be loose and frumpy.”
The controversy comes one month after the Victoria’s Secret Pink brand ambassador broke down in tears while discussing nasty comments she had received from internet trolls about her fluctuating weight.
“I try to not look at the really mean things online the best that I can because it really saves my mental health,” she said in a TikTok video last month.
“[But] there’s been a ridiculous amount of body-shaming … saying things like how much bigger I’ve gotten or how much weight I’ve gained,” Bader went on.
“It’s really not fair to just see really mean, mean things. I’m taking care of myself the best that I can.”
