Talk about a catfight.
Kim Kardashian revealed in Thursday’s new episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians” that she originally planned to bring Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat, Choupette, as her date to the 2023 Met Gala honoring the late design legend.
Unfortunately, the duo’s first meeting was a complete disaster.
“Since I’m here [in Paris], I figured it might be the perfect place to come and meet Choupette,” Kardashian said in a clip filmed during a trip to the French capital before fashion’s biggest night.
“Guys, is this cat gonna like me?” the fashion mogul asked her team as she prepped for the major moment. “I’m nervous. I literally feel like I’m going on a blind date.”
But while Kardashian noted that Choupette was “key” to her “whole vibe for the Met,” the pair’s relationship seemed doomed from the start, with the pampered pet hissing at the star as she joined her on a plush sofa.
“Don’t worry, she pretends, she won’t do anything to you,” the cat’s agent assured Kardashian, who in turn joked, “I act like that sometimes, too.”
While Kardashian at first suspected Choupette was “playing hard to get” and “just [had] to warm up” to her — “If we don’t vibe, I don’t know what I’m gonna do,” she admitted — things didn’t improve from there.
“She is feisty,” the reality star observed as the feline angrily swished her tail.
“Please don’t bite me,” she added, reaching her hand toward the cat — only to be met with another hiss and a snap.
“She’s not the biggest cuddler,” a member of Choupette’s posse acknowledged.
After several more close calls with the cat’s jaws, Kardashian decided to “pivot,” abandoning the idea of bringing the pet to the Met.
“I don’t know if it’s fair to Choupette … we’re not a match,” she concluded. “There’s so many factors that I think could be negative, especially with the cameras and the people.”
While Choupette never got to strut up those museum steps, she still made it to the gala in costume form — thanks to Jared Leto, who dressed up as the famous pet.
Although Kardashian and Choupette’s dream date didn’t go as planned, they’ll always have Paris.
