“Love Don’t Cost a Thing” — but fame has cost Jennifer Lopez’s teenage twins a normal childhood.
The “Mother” star experiences “guilt” over Emme and Maximilian’s lives in the public eye, she told Audacy in a Thursday interview.
“I think being the child of famous parents is not something many people can understand, and I feel for [my kids] for that because they didn’t choose that,” the singer explained.
She noted that the 15-year-olds “have just started letting [her] know how people treat them … [when] they walk into” rooms.
“[Others are] not seeing them for who they are,” Lopez said. “And I think that has to be a really hard thing for them. So I would love to be able to protect them from that.”
Additionally, the Grammy winner talked about her and ex-husband Marc Anthony’s kids “being judged” by strangers.
“Everybody has to deal with being bullied. It doesn’t matter who you are, you can get bullied,” she said. “But … they know that there’s a lens on them, and that’s hard.”
Despite the “guilt” she feels about the dynamic, Lopez doesn’t plan to shield Emme and Maximilian from everything negative.
“The pain is necessary. The pain is actually good,” she explained. “The pain kind of makes you feel a little bit like a warrior when you get through it.”
The songwriter welcomed her twins in 2008 with Anthony, six years before finalizing her divorce from the 54-year-old.
Lopez got remarried in 2022 to Ben Affleck, who is the father of three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner — Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11.
The actor’s parenting skills often “bring tears to” Lopez’s eyes while raising their blended family, she told “The View” audience earlier this month.
“He’s an amazing dad,” the actress gushed at the time. “He is honestly the best dad I’ve ever seen.”
Her relationship with Affleck made headlines last week after a tense red carpet exchange at the “Mother” premiere was caught on camera and analyzed by lip readers.
Days prior, the “Air” star was filmed seemingly slamming a car door on his wife, followed by a “frustrated” conversation in public the following day — but a source tells Pvnew Affleck is just an “animated” speaker.
The “Gigli” co-stars were first engaged from 2002 to 2004, giving their romance a second chance in 2021.
