Britney Spears hits back at allegations that she was a homewrecker in her new memoir.
The pop star writes in “The Woman in Me” that she was unaware Kevin Federline had a baby on the way with Shar Jackson when they started dating in 2004.
“Kevin had a ‘bad boy’ image. Still, I had no idea when we met that he had a toddler, nor that his ex-girlfriend was eight months pregnant with his second baby,” she insists in the book, which hit stores Tuesday.
“I was clueless. I was living in a bubble, and I didn’t have a lot of good, close friends to confide in and get advice from. I had no idea until after we’d been together for a while and someone told me, ‘You know he has a new baby, right?'”
Spears remembers not believing the news at first, but after she confronted Federline about it, he came clean.
“‘You have kids?’ I said. ‘You have children? Not only one child but two children?'” she recalls asking him.
Prior to meeting Spears, Federline had been engaged to Jackson, with whom he welcomed a daughter, Kori, in 2002. The “Moesha” star gave birth to their son, Kaleb, shortly after the former backup dancer began seeing the “Toxic” singer.
After Federline’s love triangle made headlines, Jackson came forward to claim that they had still been together when he moved on with Spears.
However, the actress, now 47, told reporters at the time that she and the failed rapper, now 45, remained “really good friends” despite their relationship drama.
Spears and Federline married later that year and had two sons of their own, Sean Preston and Jayden, before divorcing in 2007.

In her memoir, the Grammy winner, 41, describes battling postpartum depression during her bitter custody battle with the DJ.
“Kevin tried to convince everyone that I was completely out of control,” she recalls. “He started to say I shouldn’t have my kids anymore — at all.”
After Spears was placed under a conservatorship in 2008 on the heels of two involuntary psychiatric hospitalizations, she regained custody of Preston and Jayden.
These days, the “Gimme More” singer has a rocky relationship with her sons, though Pvnew recently reported that they reconnected shortly before the teens moved to Hawaii with their dad in August.
Federline also has two daughters, Jordan and Peyton, with his current wife, Victoria Prince.
