Katie Couric didn’t get a call back from Bob Saget after their one and only date.
The journalist shared her experience being ghosted by the late actor while speaking to his widow, Kelly Rizzo, on Tuesday’s episode of her “Next Question with Katie Couric” iHeartPodcast.
“I had a date with him once, as you know,” she told Rizzo. “I really liked him. I found him so cute and funny and amusing.”
Couric, 66, spilled on the “pretty nice kiss” they shared in her apartment foyer, calling him a “good kisser.”
When Rizzo, who was married to Saget from 2018 until his 2022 death, gushed that the comedian “adored” the “lovely” Couric, the former “Today” show co-host replied, “Well, not enough to call me again.”
Couric quickly added, “But that’s OK, because it all worked out. He found the love of his life with you.”
Saget’s former “Full House” co-star John Stamos chimed in, claiming Saget was “intimidated” by the “60 Minutes” correspondent at the time.
“I used to have to Cyrano him,” the “ER” alum, 60, recalled. “I would tell him what to text and what to say and what to do on these dates.
“I should have gone back to my texts and seen, because I feel like I was texting him [before your date],” Stamos continued. “‘Don’t blow it. Act smart around Katie. She’s a very intelligent woman, she’s not just beautiful. Be careful, Bob.'”
The actor noted that if he had gone out with Couric, they would “probably still be dating,” jokingly asking that she not “tell [his] wife,” Caitlin McHugh, he said that.
“You didn’t ask, John,” Couric shot back. “And I don’t think you were available at the time.”
While the Daytime Emmy winner didn’t specify when exactly her date with Saget took place, he was married to ex-wife Sherri Kramer from 1982 to 1997, with whom he shared three daughters.
Saget moved on with Rizzo, now 44, in 2015.
Couric, for her part, was widowed in 1998 when her husband of nine years, Jay Monahan, died. She wed financier John Molner in 2014.
