Mindy Kaling credits running, hiking and weight training for her slimmed-down physique.
The “Office” alum – who “basically lives” in workout clothes these days – said she’s made a “big commitment” to fitness this year while chatting with People.
“I just tell myself I have to do basically 20 miles a week of either hiking or running. And so that’s been incredibly helpful to me,” she explained.
“It’s hard with two kids [but] I wake up really early and I fit it in,” Kaling went on, referencing son Spencer Avu, 2, and daughter Katherine “Kit” Swati, 5.
The actress, 43, also told the outlet that she’s feeling more confident than ever now after prioritizing her health and fitness regimen.
“I’m feeling really confident in my body these days, which is not something that I’ve been able to say for my whole life, unfortunately,” explained Kaling, who launched a swimwear collection with Andie Swim this week. “I feel great.”
She also acknowledged the extensive commentary around her changing physique.
“I know people are really interested in my body and the changes in my body, and I think it’s flattering. Sometimes it’s just a little much, so I don’t try to tune it in too much,” she said.
“The truth is that I spend so much time and energy trying to be healthy.”
The “Sex Lives of College Girls” creator, who recently showed off her fit figure at the Oscars and the Met Gala, has been candid about her weight loss.
“I eat what I like to eat. If I do any kind of restrictive diet, it never really works for me. I just eat less of it,” Kaling told Entertainment Tonight in April 2022.
“I wish there was something more juicy or dynamic about the way that I’ve lost a little bit of weight, but that’s the way I’ve done it.”
She said she became more aware of what she consumes after welcoming her second child in September 2020.
“I had my son in the first year of the pandemic. It was this almost extended maternity leave. I wasn’t going to be on camera, the studios were shut down,” Kaling recalled.
“After I had my daughter [in December 2017], I had to shoot a movie, like, two months later, so I was very much like, ‘Just give me grilled salmon and sautéed spinach. I’m going to eat that for three months.’”
