They weren’t able to meet in the middle.
Maren Morris has filed for divorce from husband Ryan Hurd after five years of marriage, Pvnew can /confirm/i.
According to court documents we obtained, the “Middle” singer, 33, filed for the dissolution of her marriage with the “Chasing After You” singer, 36, on Oct. 2.
She cites “irreconcilable differences” and asks the court to honor the estranged couple’s prenuptial agreement, including awarding Morris her separate property.
The “Bones” singer is also seeking joint custody of their 3-year-old son, Hayes, and wants a permanent parenting plan put in place.
Per the court clerk, Hurd has yet to file a response.
The split appears to have come abruptly as Morris listed that the date of their separation is the same as the date she filed.
Less than two weeks prior to the songstress going to court, Hurd praised his then-wife on social media after she announced that she was quitting country music due to how “toxic” the industry had gotten.
“She deserves to be celebrated, not just tolerated,” the father of one wrote on Sept. 20 alongside Morris’ album cover for “The Bridge.”
He also added in the post, “I’m so sick of watching my wife get the s–t kicked out of her by the internet. I’m sick of every talking head having some kind of stupid opinion about what she says.
” … She deserves a little sunshine for the burden she has carried for every artist and fan that feels the same way. I can’t wait for that first tour and to see all of the smiling and beautiful people who needed these songs and and also need HER.”
Hurd concluded, “I can’t wait to make music that follows the same path, whatever that is. Feel free to leave a comment below to express your hatred or love for whatever I said, they will be duly noted, filed, sorted, and discarded. Love you, MM. Keep on keepin’ on.”
The comments have since been turned off in the gushing post, but Hurd has not yet addressed his separation on social media. Morris has not released a statement yet, either.
Both of their reps did not immediately return Pvnew’s requests for comment.
Morris and Hurd began dating in 2015 after being friends for several years. They got engaged in 2017 and tied the knot less than a year later in 2018.
The musicians welcomed their first and only child together, Hayes, in March 2020.
