“Love Is Blind” star Uche Okoroha claimed James Milton Johnson IV expressed “serious concerns” prior to marrying his then-fiancée, Lydia Gonzalez.
The lawyer made the reveal on Instagram shortly after Netflix released the Season 5 reunion Sunday, which Okoroha skipped.
During the special, Johnson claimed Okoroha was “interestingly obsessed with my relationship with Lydia” and had contacted him via text on his actual wedding day.
“[Uche] occasionally still texts. He’ll reach out,” but “I won’t respond to him,” the petroleum engineer said during the episode. “[There’s] no purpose, no point.”
“The day I got married … he said, ‘Hey, man, heard you got married. Wanna talk about it?'”
Okoroha, 34, then addressed the situation on Instagram, saying his request to “chat” was a follow-up to a longer conversation he and Johnson had just a couple of days before the wedding.
Okoroha shared a screenshot which showed that he and Johnson, 25, were on a video call that lasted nearly four hours in late May 2022 — just three days before the geologist and Johnson wed.
In a second screenshot, Okoroha showed the wedding day text that he sent Johnson, which read, “Congratulations, Milk [Johnson’s nickname on the show]. Want to chat about it?”
“Off camera — Milton is more open with his emotions,” Okoroha explained to his Instagram followers. “We had a video chat three days before the wedding where he expressed some serious concerns to me.”
Okoroha didn’t reveal what Johnson’s “concerns” were, but he said it “had nothing to do with Lydia.”
“Milton and I may not have been close, but many of the guys [on the show] came to me for advice and guidance and I wanted to be there for him and check in on him after our discussion,” he further explained.
In the pods, Okoroha had formed a connection with Aaliyah Cosby, 29. However, their romance started to fizzle when the ICU nurse found out that Okoroha and Gonzalez, 32, were in a relationship months before coming on the show.
Okoroha later accused Gonzalez of following him onto the show and “stalking” his friends’ Instagram profiles.
Despite the drama, Johnson and Gonzalez became the only couple from the show to say “I do” at the altar.
“Love Is Blind” Season 5 is currently streaming on Netflix.
